What is Camp Materfield?

A DIFFERENT KIND OF CAMPING

The Setting

Our campsites are tucked along a wooded hillside

The land offers:

  • a spring-fed river, cool, refreshing, and stocked with trout

  • wooded paths and open clearings

  • abundant wildlife — eagles overhead, deer at dusk, foxes, birds, beavers, and pollinators

  • lush summer greens and spectacular fall color

This is off-grid camping:

    •    no electricity

    •    no Wi-Fi

    •    limited cell service

A natural reset — without being remote or hard to reach.

Designed to Make Camping Easy

Camp Materfield dissolves the most common barriers faced when camping — gear, food, and preparation — without removing the joy of doing it yourself.

The Experiences

SAVOR A DAY AT MATERFIELD

Mornings begin with bird song and watching the sun rise above the hills. Fire-brewed coffee and a stroll along the nature path, pausing to take pictures of the flowers and inspect fresh tracks in the earth. Maybe a stretch in the clearing as the river ripples over the rocks. A brunch kit cooked by camp stove, and a good book read while swaying in the hammock, eagles looping overhead. In the heat of the day, walking to one end of the property and floating in the crisp, clear water all the way to the other end. The windy banks lined with flowers and beaver dams. Anchoring on the beach, soaking up the sun. Evening gathers us around the campfire, Grilling girl dinners and sometimes spilling the beans. Then snuggled in a sleeping bag, fresh air brings sound sleep.

For those who wish to explore, Materfield is close to small western Wisconsin towns known for:

cafés and bakeries

cheesemakers, meat producers, and bread makers

seasonal markets and local shops

scenic tours and state trails

You can venture out — or stay in camp for your entire visit.
